MANCHESTER — The Fire Department responded to Crow Island for a fire alarm activation at 12:07 p.m. Thursday, but authorities found it to be accidentally set off by the alarm company and simply reset the system.

The Fire Department responded to 1 Highland Ave. for a fire alarm activation at 12:30 p.m. Thursday that was apparently set off by bird food. Crews ventilated the home and reset the system.

The Fire Department received a report of a fire alarm activation at 1:01 p.m. at Boardman Avenue, but by the time a crew arrived on scene, the system had already reset and no problems could be found.

The Fire Department received a carbon monoxide warning from Newport Park at 1:54 p.m. Thursday. Officials ventilated the apartment and told the Manchester Housing Authority to contact National Grid and call the utility in to investigate the matter further.

Police noticed a manhole beginning to collapse in the area of 107 Summer St. at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The officers notified the National Grid.

Police received a report of a man walking on Route 128 North by Exit 16 at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Officers said the man, a Gloucester native, had been in a fight with the driver of a car and told to get out. The officers advised him to walk on Route 127 instead of Route 128.

The Fire Department responded to a residence on Hickory Hill Road at 2:55 yesterday morning for a fire alarm activation. Authorities said it was set off for an unknown reason and they reset the system.
