ESSEX — Police received a report that two parked vehicles had been struck by a moving vehicle on Main Street near Periwinkles Restaurant on Thursday at 4:22 p.m.
Officers arrived to find that the car was gone, but are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run.
Police received a report that two laptops were stolen from the "Grown Ups" movie set at Centennial Grove at 5:52 p.m. Thursday. The matter is under investigation.

Wellspring House of Gloucester held its 14th Annual Women Honoring Women Luncheon earlier this month with over 670 in attendance.
This year's honorees were long-time Wellspring volunteer Betsy Brown of Manchester, The Open Door's Executive Director Julie LaFontaine of Essex, and Barbara Lynch, one of Boston's and the country's leading chefs and restaurateurs. Lynch also was the keynote speaker.
With a lower price tag and slightly looser requirements, the Maplewood School building will head back out for bids for the sixth time since the city put it on the block eight years ago.
The schoolhouse picked up one bid the last time the city put it out.
