A 9-month old baby locked itself in a car with its mother outside calling for help Thursday at 6:13 p.m. in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Thatcher Road. The mother told police that, while she was outside the car, the baby grabbed her keys, activated the door locks and could not be instructed to open them.
A crew from Tally's tow service arrived and used a tool to open the doors before police arrived. The child was not harmed.
A Gloucester man complaining of neck pain after he drove his car off of Bray Street onto some rocks Thursday was taken to Beverly Hospital at 6:20 p.m.
The man told police he had just finished a strenuous workout at the gym and must have fallen asleep at the wheel. The car destroyed a small tree on its way to being caught sideways on the rock outcropping.
The driver was wearing his seat belt and his airbags deployed. No charges were filed.
