Rockport Police/Fire: Man faces domestic charges in Rockport incident

ROCKPORT — A man police believe to be homeless was arrested at 7:51 a.m. Saturday on charges of domestic assault and battery.

Christopher Jacobs, 44, was arrested following a fight with a reported ex-girlfriend on Railroad Avenue.

According to police, Jacobs allegedly punched the woman in the face, though she refused medical attention. A restraining order was issued against Jacobs, and he was served with the order while he awaited arraignment.

Police responded to a Kitefield Road residence at 4:56 p.m. Friday for a report of a mother and son arguing. Police restored peace and exited the scene.

A woman reported hitting a deer while driving on Thatcher Road at 5:55 p.m. Friday. The woman said the deer was able to get up and run away, and there was no damage to the car reported.

The Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm activation at the Community House on Broadway at 4:41 p.m. Saturday, but when firefighters arrived, they determined there was no leak.

At 7:32 p.m. Sunday, the owner of a Main Street property reported unwanted guests at his rental property. The tenant is away, according to the property owner, and had friends staying in the building. The people in the building left without incident after being spoken to by police.

At 10:53 a.m. Sunday, a Main Street woman called police to report that a "handsome rooster" was in her yard, and she expressed concern that it would starve to death.

Police reassured her that her neighbors keep chickens and roosters, and that this one would find its way home.
