---- — The Photography Division of the Rockport Art Association is invading the Lanesville Community Center this weekend with a benefit photo show.

The two-day photography show takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The public is invited Saturday to a free reception from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Sunday to a coffee hour from 10 a.m. to noon. The Lanesville Community Center is at 8 Vulcan St. in Gloucester.

This is the first time the Rockport Art Association’s Photography Division has organized a photo show outside of its home base in downtown Rockport. The photographers will donate a portion of the proceeds to the art association from sales at the show.

“We are excited by this off-site exhibition of works from our Photography Division and grateful to them for using it as a fund-raising tool to benefit the Rockport Art Association. The Lanesville Community Center is an ideal location,” said Carol Linsky, the RAA executive director. “This is a must-see show for everyone. These exceptional artists offer exciting and innovative works.”

The photography division is a vital part of the art association, said its president Kathryn Tuck.

“We appreciate the freshness and exuberance they bring to our exhibitions,” she said.

Participating photographers include Les Bartlett, Barbara Brewer, Vicki Diez-Canseco, John Thomas Grant, Law Hamilton, Steve Howard, Otto Laske, Skip Montello, Wendy Morgan, Judith Oleson, David Piemonte, Christina Rhodes, Judy Robinson-Cox, Jan Walker, and Alice Whittaker.

Out of the 283 artist members, 60 of those members are in the photography division.

“The Rockport Art Association photography artists are among the most talented in their field,” said Linda Cote, assistant director at the art association. “This show is not to be missed.”
