Wife: Husband tried to drown me in toilet

A husband was arrested after his wife accused of him of trying to drown her in a toilet bowl.

Officers arrested Laerico Ventura, 32, of 20 Blynman Ave. on charges of assault and battery and assault with intent to murder Friday at 2:13 a.m.

A report of a disturbance brought police to 22 Blynman Ave. where officers found Ventura’s wife.

The woman told police she and Ventura had argued while at Latitude 43 about what time to head home. She left the Rogers Street restaurant without him.

Ventura came home, and the woman accused him of pulling her out of bed, hitting her in the face, and trying to drown her in the bowl of the home’s toilet.

She told police she pulled away from him but he caught her and then tried to suffocate her with a pillow. She got away from him again and went to the next-door neighbor’s home.

Police found Ventura in the couple’s home and arrested him.
