ROCKPORT — A Main Street man awoke from a nap to find a stranger using the bathroom in his apartment Saturday, according to police.
The man reported that he heard some commotion upon waking about 3 p.m., then saw a man between 60 and 70 years old exit the bathroom and the apartment, according to police.
Police searched the area around the apartment, but did not find the elderly man.
A Granite Street man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly assaulted and battered a woman, then fled his residence Saturday night.
Daniel Teel, 60, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Sunday after he returned to his residence and his accuser called the police, police said. The woman had first contacted police Saturday night about 6:55, when Teel allegedly left the residence immediately after assaulting the woman, according to police.
Teel, charged with domestic assault and battery, was arraigned in Gloucester District Court on Monday and released on personal recognizance, police said.
A Granite Street resident reported to police that a fire was burning out of control at the residence’s fire pit Friday evening about 7:40.
Firefighters were dispatched to put out the fire, and police officers spoke to the residents, according to police.
