---- — Downtown Rockport played a part in film “History” early Monday morning — that’s “Clear History,” the working title for the HBO film being directed and produced by “Seinfeld” writer, producer and comedy icon Larry David.

Crews spent the morning filming a number of backdrops along Main Street and around Dock Square. Crews had also filmed extensively last week in the town of Essex, notably at Farnham’s restaurant.

Big-time filmmaking is nothing new to Rockport or Rockporters.

The same downtown landscape and much of Bearskin Neck also essentially stood in as the fishing town of Sitka, Alaska, in 2008, when Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and others all appeared during the downtown filming of the romantic comedy hit, “The Proposal.”
