Town Talk: Brookwood hosts annual 'sustainability' event

The Brookwood School in Manchester is hosting its sixth annual Sustainability Fair today, featuring local vendors of all kinds, as well as hands-on environmental displays, recycling information, animals and activities for children.

This family event is free and open to the public.

The event is at the Brookwood campus off Route 127, and will run from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m.

The robotics team called “Robots by the ‘C,’” composed of Manchester Essex Regional High School students, are once again participating in a program run by US FIRST — For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

The team designs, builds and programs its own robot to compete with other teams from around the U.S. and Canada. The Manchester Essex team is entering its seventh year of competition, coming off an exciting second-place finish last year at the Boston Regional Competition at Boston University.

But members need the community’s support in helping to raise money for the program, and are planning a benefit auction as a fundraiser.

To offer auction items or a donation please contact Meredith Waites at 978-768-0127.

Marjorie Nesin can be reached at 978-283-7000, x3451, or at mnesin@gloucestertimes.com.
