---- — A New Hampshire man was arrested and charged with assault and battery after police responded to a fight outside a bar on Rogers Street early Friday night.
A driver for Gloucester Taxi called police and said he saw a group of men beat up another man in front of the House of Mitch. He told officers the three men were heading up toward Main Street, while police called an ambulance for the injured man.
An officer found the three men near a parking lot on Western Avenue about 70 yards from where the victim was laying on the ground. The men were uncooperative, but after the officer told them that a witness reported they’d been in a fight with another man, one of them spoke up, saying that the man that paramedics were treating had been insulting them.
Police brought the driver to pass by the three, and he told police that one — Joshua Richardson, 32, of 51 Birch St., in Derry N.H., — punched the other man to the ground and kicked him repeatedly in the head. Police noticed blood on Richardson’s sneakers, and arrested him on charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon —(the shoe).
Officers charged a Gloucester man with unlicensed driving on Washington Street after they pulled him over for a defective headlight.
The man, Adriano DaSilva, 34, of 101 Washington St., told police he does not have a license to drive, and said he wasn’t issued a license. He was then arrested and police had his car towed from the scene Thursday at 6:54 a.m.
A man called police at 8:42 a.m. Friday to report that his son was in a fight at Gloucester High School. He said the school had disciplined both his son and the boy with whom he fought, but that he also wanted police to have the incident on file.
