Gloucester District Court: Charges continued in drunken driving case

A Gloucester woman who crashed her car into a telephone pole in January was facing charges Friday in Gloucester District Court.

Judge Joseph Jennings continued the charges of reckless operation, drunken driving, and leaving the scene of property damage, brought against Jessica Pata, 33, of 53 Cleveland St., until November 2013. She was assessed $600 in fines and lost her driver's license for 45 days.

Officers arrested Pata on Jan. 27 after they were called to Western Avenue for a reported explosion. When they arrived, they found a car, engine still running, crushed against a telephone pole by Steep Mill Drive. A witness said Pata and a man who was riding with her had fled into the brush.

Police found them, and ran Pata through field sobriety tests. She failed and was arrested.
