Gloucester Police/Fire: City man charged in Friend Street disturbance

A Gloucester man was arrested for wanton destruction of property and disturbing the peace Wednesday at 10:46 p.m.

According to police, officers responded to Sunbanque on Friend Street for a report of a disturbance.

When they arrived, they found Mark Lendall, of no listed name or address, standing and yelling on a porch outside an apartment above the tanning salon.

Lendall, according to police reports, had a disagreement with his son and he had damaged furniture inside the apartment while also breaking the window of the apartment door.

An officer confiscated a lighter from a 9-year-old boy on Sargent Street on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a youth lighting fires in Burnham's Field.

The officer found the child, took the lighter and brought him home and spoke with his mother.

An officer responded to Bass Avenue for a report of several intoxicated women Wednesday at 7:47 p.m. The women, according to the incident report, appeared to be OK.

Fire Department paramedics transported a woman from Atlantic Road to Addison Gilbert Hospital on Wednesday at 9:23 p.m.

An Amero Court resident called police to report that she thought someone was spraying insecticide outside her house in an attempt to make her sick Thursday at 12:38 a.m.

Police told her to get checked out by a doctor, but the woman refused medical attention.

Police responded to a Prospect Street residence for a report of loud music Thursday at 2:02 a.m. They spoke with a tenant who was placed on notice to refrain from playing music loudly, or he would be arrested for disturbing the peace.

Police and firefighters responded to Old County Road for a report of smoke coming out of a house Thursday at 6 a.m.

They found the smoke was coming from a chimney fire. Firefighters doused the fire and cleared the scene within less than a half hour.

Police responded to a Jebeka Lane residence at 7:18 a.m. for a report of an attempted break-in.

When officers arrived, the homeowner said someone had tried to break into a barn next to the house, and that someone had cut the locks on the barn doors.

Nothing, however, appeared to be missing. The neighbor also requested a cruiser check.
