Rockport farm expands its stand

---- — ROCKPORT — A Rockport farm is expanding its offerings in the second year of running a farmstand.

Seaview Farms’ plans for this season include a larger selection and a greater variety of produce and vegetables grown on the premises, as well as farm-raised, grass-fed beef, said owners Ken and Regina Lane.

The farm’s beef is from high-quality cattle of Belted and Devon beef breeds. In addition to providing local fresh eggs, jams, local honey, maple syrup and baked goods, plans are in the works to sell a variety of cheeses, spices, rubs, marinades and more, the Lanes said.

With the recent purchase of a high tower, the season for fresh produce and vegetables began earlier this year and will last longer in the fall. The longer growing season will provide visitors and the community with a much needed supply of fresh food to purchase in Rockport.

“We’re very excited with this year’s expansion and will continue to introduce new products,” Ken Lane said. “In addition, we are participating at the Cape Ann’s Farmer’s Market starting on June 20th. We welcome everyone from Cape Ann and beyond.”

Seaview Farm was established in 1838 as a dairy farm. Seven generations of Lanes have been involved with the farm, which became an equine boarding stable in the 1970s.

The seventh generation in the Lane family to work the farm is now represented by Ken and Regina. The couple introduced the Farm Stand and grass fed, farm raised beef in 2012.
