Essex Police/Fire: Business alarm draws police — 5 times

Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — Police responded five times to a Main Street business’s burglar alarm Tuesday night, but found no suspicious activity, officers said.

The first alarm sounded at 1:22 a.m. Police observed a crack on the business’s glass front door, but said they were uncertain whether the crack is related to the sounding alarms.

The alarm sounded almost every hour between its first call and the final one at 7:17 a.m., according to police.

Police notified the business owner of the possibly malfunctioning alarm.

The Essex Fire Department Rescue Squad transported a person possibly having an allergic reaction from Main Street to Beverly Hospital about 2:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to fire officials.

The man had been stung multiple times by hornets, police said.
