Essex Police/Fire: Wrecked woods work of illegal camper?

ESSEX — Police are looking into a report of damage that was done in the woods off Laurel Lane this week.

A person who had found the damage while walking in woods came in to the station to report it Thursday at 8:50 a.m.

The wreckage may have been the work of someone camping illegally in the area, police said.

Police and firefighters responded to a fire alarm sounding at a Cogswell Court residence Thursday at 2:45 a.m. Firefighters entered the home to discover the alert was due to a system malfunction.

Two drivers came into the station Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. to complain about the other’s behavior behind the wheel.

The first driver reported being followed as he traveled from Gloucester to Woodman’s on Main Street. The other driver told police he followed the first driver because he believed he had been cut off.
