SALISBURY — The Essex Country District Attorney's office yesterday identified the man found dead inside a Route 1 gun club Wednesday night as Lawrence Pelrin of 12 Cottage St., Hingham.
The 60-year-old Pelrin was discovered inside Bob's Tactical Shooting Range & Gun Shop a little after 6 p.m. while the club was still open. By 7:15 p.m., the body had been removed from the shooting range section of the building and into a dark-colored Suburban SUV. SClBAccording to Salisbury police, an employee called authorities regarding the incident.
Essex County District Attorney spokesman Steve O'Connell said the cause and matter of Pelrin's death is pending an autopsy scheduled for today at the chief medical examiner's office in Boston.
O'Connell declined to comment on whether the death was witnessed by anyone inside the club or any other details of what he called an ongoing investigation.
Pelrin, according to O'Connell, was not an employee of the gun shop. When approached by a reporter Wednesday night, employees would not comment on the incident.
Salisbury police Detective Sgt. Anthony King on Wednesday wouldn't comment, as well, forwarding all questions to the Essex County District Attorney's office.
