Gloucester Police/Fire: Woman charged with DUI after Back Shore crash

Gloucester Police/Fire

Police arrested a 22-year-old River Road woman on charges of drunken and negligent driving after the woman, Rebecca Murray, crashed her vehicle onto the rocks along Atlantic Road Wednesday about 10:24 p.m., police said.

Murray, who failed four sobriety tests, told police she’d had a few beers at Pratty’s about an hour before the crash.

Police said the negligence charge stemmed from Murray driving fast enough to jump the curb and land on the rocks off the roadway. Police said Murray told them she’d been driving at 45 miles per hour in the 25-mile-per-hour zone.

Officers also found a 40-ounce bottle of beer spilling onto the ground beside the driver’s side door of Murray’s vehicle and photographed it as evidence, according to the police report.

Police arrested 52-year-old David C. Brower of Main Street on charges of domestic assault and battery at a Main Street residence Thursday about 6:46 p.m., according to police.

Police said they’d removed a child-sized plastic pool on Thatcher Road from the roadway to the side of the road Thursday about 8:34 p.m.
