Essex Police/Fire: Information sought on man who tried to open car with child inside

ESSEX — Police here say they're looking for information regarding an unknown older man tried to open the doors of a car containing a child at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday, near the Essex Post Office.

The man tried two doors of the same car, then left the area, a caller told police.

He is described as an older white male with glasses and brownish hair, driving a black Mazda.

Police say they do not believe the incident was an attempted abduction. The child, who was alone in the vehicle, was unharmed, police said.
