Essex Police/Fire: Boater claims injury in grounding incident

ESSEX — The harbormaster’s office received a call around noon Tuesday about an earlier boating incident that happened on Aug. 31.

Police said a New Hampshire man contacted officials about running aground last month, and is now claiming he was injured. Police said the man was in the boat with a number of other people; it was unclear where exactly the boat ran aground.

Police said the passed on the information to the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

Police arrested a 50-year-old Lawrence man Tuesday while he was driving on Western Avenue around 7 a.m.

Police said Raymundo Jaurez Felipe of William Street in Lawrence is being charged with providing a false name to a police officer, operating with a suspended license and operating without a valid license.
