Jalapenos hosts Legion post benefit

The Lester S. Wass American Legion Post No. 3 will be holding a fund-raiser at downtown Gloucester’s Jalapenos Restaurant today from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

The event will benefit the American Legion Post through a percentage of dinner sales offered by Jalapenos.

“Everyone is invited to come, have a great meal and spirits and to support a great cause, namely helping veterans,” said Mark Nestor, the Gloucester attorney who is also a Vietnam veteran and has served as a host for both the city’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs.

The American Legion Post is dedicated to helping veterans, especially those in need, and to provide a supportive environment for our returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Vietnam Veterans. The American Legion also gives back to its community through providing holiday meals to the elderly, shut-ins and needy in the Cape Ann area, Nestor noted.

“American Legion Post No. 3 is in the process of reorganizing and revitalizing,” Nestor said, “so that it can provide even more support and assistance, but we need your help.

“Come, relax and support,” he said.

Anyone who cannot attend the fund-raiser but would like to make a donation to the Legion may do so by mailing to American Legion, P.O. Box 122, Gloucester, MA 01931-0122.
