A 34-year-old Gloucester woman was arrested on charges of drunken driving just down the road from her Essex Avenue home Wednesday about 1:51 a.m. as she was returning from work at a bar in Beverly Farms.
An officer stopped Dawn M. Paquin after observing her allegedly driving 45 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone, seeing Paquin swerve in and out of a marked lane, and then sitting with the car parked just before the off ramp on Route 128 North.
Paquin told offers she’d had a few drinks before driving home and that she was coming from her job at the Hale Street Tavern in Beverly Farms.
Police said, however, that she failed four sobriety tests and her blood alcohol level tested at 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with marked lane violation, speeding and drunken driving.
Police arrested a 20-year-old Cleveland Street woman and charged her with disorderly conduct and assault and battery after she spat on and screamed at a man whom she was kicking out of her home.
Melissa Hinkley had allegedly thrown clothing and other items at the man before officers arrived, according to the police report.
Then, when police allowed the man to retrieve belongings from the home, she began “yelling and screaming” at the man and at police.
Police arrested her initially for disorderly conduct, then added the domestic assault and battery charge when she spat at the man on her way to the police cruiser.
Police also filed a report with the Department of Children and Families, as a 2-year-old child was present for most of the incident, according to the police report.
