Manchester Police/Fire: Haverhill man arrested after car chase

Manchester Police/Fire

MANCHESTER — A Haverhill man faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after a brief chase by police that ended on Beach Street on Tuesday around 5:50 p.m.

Police said they were first called to Masconomo Street for a complaint that Michael Nutt, 44, of Haverhill Street in Haverhill was allegedly at a residence asking for gas money.

When he saw the cruisers, police say Nutt got back into his car and took off at a high rate of speed. He was eventually stopped on Beach Street and police said he failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested on the drunken driving charge and cited for speeding as well.
