---- — ROCKPORT — Police arrested a 22-year-old Gloucester woman after the vehicle she was driving struck a telephone pole at the Five Corners Wednesday night about 2:10 a.m.

Shana Holub of Beach Road was charged with drunken driving, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, and failure to wear a seat belt, according to police.

According to police, Holub’s vehicle struck the pole when she attempted to turn from Upper Main Street onto Railroad Avenue. National Grid repaired the pole, and Holub’s vehicle was towed from the area, according to police.

Police said Holub declined ambulance transportation to a hospital.

The town’s Department of Public Works will dispose of a barrel of oil that washed up on Rockport’s coast Thursday about 8:46 a.m., according to police.

Police said no one knows where the barrel came from, but it was tightly sealed, and public works employees will dispose of the oil in the same way they discard used oil from the town.

A Pride’s Lane woman was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital for medical treatment Wednesday about 4:39 p.m., according to police.
