Veterans Day events on Cape Ann

Events scheduled around Cape Ann on Sunday in observance of Veterans Day:

Gloucester, Sunday, 9 a.m. — Ceremony begins at Gloucester High School’s Benjamin Smith Field House, with Jerris David Cook, a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran and retired Gloucester Police officer as principal speaker. Ceremony at high school followed by parade to American Legion hall for ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m., with laying of wreaths by Mayor Carolyn Kirk, volley and taps. Program followed by a lunch at the American Legion Hall.

Rockport, Sunday, 10 a.m. — Ceremony begins at American Legion Post 98 in Rockport, featuring speaker Major Kevin Love of the U.S. Army Active Reserve forces, a firing squad, prayers and hymns.

Manchester, Sunday, 10:30 a.m. — Annual ceremony and luncheon at American Legion Hall. Veterans and community members to gather at 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. ceremony, followed by lunch. The lunch is free, but Legion members ask those attending to bring a pair of new socks or a new sweatshirt to be donated to Operation Troop Support for those currently serving in the military.
