---- — GLOUCESTER — Police issued a citation to a Chestnut Street dog owner Thursday afternoon, after the postal service’s assistant postmaster complained that the resident’s Mastiff dog was “often loose” and had harassed a letter carrier. According to police, the dog’s owner had not registered the dog in Gloucester.

A pitbull that was found running freely without registration tags was secured by police on Pleasant Street Thursday about 11:36 a.m.

Police said a resident picked up the dog.

An 18-year-old Haskell Street man was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery after reportedly getting into a fight with another resident of his home, a 48-year-old man, Thursday about 2:28 p.m.

According to police, Drew Martin told officers he had pushed the man, knocking him to the ground, after the man told him to “shut up” and “got in his face” during an argument. Police said the man told officers that Martin also climbed on top of him after pushing him down and kneed him in the ribcage several times.

When police arrived, the 48-year-old man was holding Martin down, according to the report. Police said they asked the other man to move to another room and restrained Martin until he was calm.
