Manchester Police/Fire: 'Lost' cyclist gets escort off Route 128

Manchester Police/Fire

MANCHESTER — Police escorted a cyclist off Route 128 Saturday at about 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of the man riding along the highway near Exit 15, the exit for School Street.

After escorting the bicyclist off Route 128, where bicycles are prohibited, police directed the man, who said he was lost, to the Manchester commuter rail station.

Police issued a criminal complaint to a Beverly man who was allegedly driving unlicensed in Manchester on Route 128 near School Street Monday about noon, according to police. Matthew Lear, 28, will be summonsed to Gloucester District Court to face the charge, police said.

A driver was transported to Beverly Hospital after spinning and crashing into a guard rail on Summer Street Sunday about 7:15 p.m., according to police. The vehicle was towed from the crash scene.
