Essex Police/Fire: Deer hit by car

ESSEX — After it was hit by a car on John Wise Avenue at 9:24 p.m. Thursday, a deer had to be euthanized by police.

Police said the deer was mortally wounded by the accident, but the car received minimal damage.

Police are investigating a suspicious phone call reported by an Eastern Avenue business to police at 3:13 p.m. Thursday.

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a Choate Street resident reported suspicious activity after a door to a house was left open. Police checked the area and did not find anything suspicious.

On Friday about 12:30 p.m., police and firefighters responded to a fire alarm on Kings Court.
