Manchester Police/Fire: Manchester man faces assault charges

Manchester Police/Fire

MANCHESTER — After receiving multiple calls, police arrested Donald Hurley, 59, of School St. Wednesday night after he allegedly assaulted a town police officer.

According to police, Hurley was seen jumping in and out of traffic outside of his home on School Street. When police arrived, he ran into his home, and struggled extensively with officers who followed him.

He is now charged with assault and battery of a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace. Essex police were also called to assist in the arrest.

Police said there have been a rash of car break-ins throughout Manchester.

The first of five calls came in at 7:21 a.m. on Thursday. Police said the thefts are now being investigated and that they have been sporadic, most occurring off main streets and roads.

Multiple motorists called to report metal debris lying in the middle of Route 128 south bound by exit 15. Police said two cars hit the debris but nobody was hospitalized.
