Essex Police/Fire: Erratic drivers spark Essex calls

ESSEX — Residents reported several erratic operators throughout Essex.

A driver was stopped at 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday at Western Avenue after calls about the driver. Police said the operator claimed a dog, also in the car, was jumping in his lap, and no charges were filed.

On Wednesday at 9:54 p.m., police responded to a call from Ipswich police officers about an erratic driver possibly headed into Essex. Police checked the area of Route 133, but did not locate anyone.

Around 3 a.m. on Thursday, an erratic operator was reported by a driver on Main Street. Police searched the area, but again could not locate anyone.

A Story Street resident phoned police around 3 p.m. on Wednesday reporting three suspicious phone calls. Police said the resident tried to call the suspicious phone number, but found it was disconnected. Police advised the resident to report any suspicious activity.

A resident, while digging for clams near Clammer’s Beach, found a capsized Kayak at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday. He returned it shore; police are investigating.

Police assisted a resident on County Road who had locked their keys out of their car.

Essex police officers assisted Manchester officers during an arrest on Wednesday night at School Street in Manchester.
