Town Talk: Museum delays Valentine's presentation

The Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum has postponed a special Valentine’s exhibit until March 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Essex Congregational Church.

The love letters between John and Abigal Adams were initially supposed to be presented Friday.

Although Valentine’s Day, which falls next Thursday, will be over and done with in March, organizers are still hopeful the event will draw a good turnout. For more information, visit essexshipbuildingmuseum.org.

“The WIzard of Oz” that timeless tale of companionship and adventure, is making its way to Essex Elementary School.

The play is set for Friday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Essex Elementary School cafeteria, donations are accepted.

John Theo, a Manchester-based author, has now released one of his young adult books under the e-book format.

In “Grotto Under the Tree” readers can follow two young heroes, Sebastian and Sara, as they mistakenly descend into a mystical land where elves, mermaids, gnomes and other mythological creatures live.

The two discover they have stumbled into an ancient battle between these fair folk and evil creatures called the Kylo. Their guide on this journey is Capri, an elf lord who is on a quest to find his lost tribe. The Kylo chase the children and Capri in his flying galleon north into the Arctic Circle where they find the most unlikely ally. During the final battle the children learn about sacrifice, love and ultimately forgiveness.
