Essex Police/Fire: Youths issued pot citations

Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — Police responding to reports of a car trespassing on the property of a John Wise Avenue business around 10 p.m. on Thursday questioned three occupants in the vehicle, who claimed they worked at the business and had a right to be there.

The owner of the business, however, confirmed that the three had no right to be there, and police advised the youths they may be charged with trespassing as a result.

The occupants were also issued civil citations for possession of marijuana.

Police stopped a Gloucester man traveling on Eastern Avenue around 1 a.m. on Friday for a marked lanes violation. As a result, the driver was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana and his car was towed.

A hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the Blue Marlin resulted in a brief power outage, police said. Police said witnesses saw a drive back into a guide wire in the Eastern Avenue lot, and the accident apparently blew a fuse. National Grid was notified and responded to the scene.

A Main Street resident wished to file a police report after claiming he was being harassed by an-out-of town resident. Police advised the man, who came into the station around 2 p.m. on Thursday, to seek a court order.
