---- — GLOUCESTER — A Maplewood Avenue teenager admitted to sufficient facts to warrant a guilty finding on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, but Judge Joseph Jennings continued his case without a finding until next year.

Joshua Kariores, 18, had been arrested after he allegedly grabbed an 11-year-old boy by the hair and “struck” the boy’s head against a bench.

He was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and counseling to address anger management issues. Kariores was also ordered to pay a $90 assessment.

An additional charge of assault and battery was dismissed at the commonwealth’s request.

A 26-year-old Gloucester man will see a driving without a license charge dismissed if he pays $100 in court costs, Judge Joseph Jennings decided at a Tuesday arraignment. The man, Rory Desmond, was also found not responsible for a malfunctioning headlight violation.

According to police, an officer had stopped Desmond in January after noticing that his headlight was out. Desmond told police at that time that he had forgotten to renew his license, according to police. The officer wrote that he criminally cited Desmond instead of arresting him because Desmond was polite and apologetic.
