MANCHESTER — A Manchester man is facing a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol after police arrested him Wednesday at 8:46 p.m. on Summer Street.

John Gallagher, 59, of Old Wenham Way, was arrested after officers observed him driving erratically, according to Manchester police.

Police received reports of a broken down vehicle on Summer Street around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. Officers, however, found that the car was simply out of gas and was soon able to leave.

Police received a reported of car being stuck in the snow on Blossom Lane Wednesday, just before 10 a.m. The car was safely towed out.

Police and firefighters responded to a Newport Park residence for a fire alarm Wednesday at 11:35 a.m. Police said someone cooking food caused the smoke that set off the alarm.
