A salute to Presidents Day

School fair spotlights nation's leaders

There may not have been any parades or fireworks.

But that doesn’t mean that at least some folks weren’t carrying out their own celebration of Monday’s Presidents Day holiday – like these fourth-grade students at East Gloucester Elementary School.

In fact, each of the school’s fourth graders created an exhibit for the school’s Presidents Fair, and presented them to a number of visitors on Friday heading into Monday’s Presidents Day holiday.

The fair included presentations such as a Monopoly game based on the presidency of James Madison, right on up to displays spotlighting the diverse life and times of James Polk and Gerald Ford.

Beyond Presidents Day, the students had something else to celebrate as well.

Monday’s holiday also marked the start of their and other city and Cape Ann schools’ annual winter vacation, which continues throughout the week.
