---- — BOSTON (AP) — An approaching storm that could drop close to a foot of snow on some parts of Massachusetts has prompted the state to postpone the MCAS English composition exam.
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System test was scheduled to be administered to public school students in the fourth, seventh and 10th grades on Tuesday.
The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on Monday sent a memo to school officials around the state announcing that the test would be postponed until March 25 due to the likelihood of school closings on Tuesday.
A winter storm warning has been posted for interior sections of Massachusetts. The National Weather Service says some areas could get 6 to 10 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
The postponement applies to all school systems, even those that open Tuesday.
