Local, state police nab city man on child porn charges

A collection of child pornography on a hidden laptop led Gloucester and Massachusetts State Police to arrest a 24-year-old Seeall Street man this morning.

Police, executing a search warrant about 6:32 a.m., arrived at the Seeall home where Shaun Batchelder lives, and located a laptop hidden under Batchelder’s mattress with “hundreds of graphic images” of child pornography along with at least two “very graphic” child pornography videos, according to a police report.

The videos depicted “young preadolescent children” involved in sexual activities, according to police.

Batchelder had first told police that he did not own a laptop computer, according to a Gloucester police report. Then, after police found the computer, Batchelder told police the computer did not work, but state troopers accessed the computer “forensically,” police said.

Police arrested Batchelder and transported him to the state police barracks in Danvers for booking.
