Essex Police/Fire: Smoke reports turn up no fire

ESSEX — Police were alerted to reports of smoke in the area of Grove Street Monday around 11 a.m., but police could not find anything burning when they arrived.

Police said a license plate was found in the area of Western Avenue Monday around 11:30 a.m.; officers were able to return it to its rightful owner, police said.
