ESSEX — Police here are warning residents to lock their cars wherever they park them after thieves stole items from at least two unlocked cars in a quiet neighborhood.
By late morning yesterday, two Forest Avenue residents had reported that items had been taken from their cars.

The thief went through the vehicle sometime between 12:30 a.m. and when she called the station. She said six compact discs and a GPS was taken.
The second report came in at 8:30 a.m. yesterday. The resident said $80 in cash, an iPod and sunglasses were taken.
A man reported at 9:41 a.m. Monday that his daughter's Eastern Avenue home had been hit with a paint ball sometime Friday night.
A man called police at 1:27 a.m. yesterday to report his girlfriend had been missing since noon Sunday. He called again at 10 a.m. to say he had heard from her.
