Essex Police/Fire: Cat struck by car taken into 'custody'

ESSEX — Police responded to a phone call about a cat struck by a vehicle on Main Street on Monday night.

When the responding officer arrived, he realized that the cat was alive and still moving, according to police.

Police notified animal control of the cat's condition and location at about 10:11 p.m., and animal control took the cat into custody, police said.

The cat's condition was not available Tuesday afternoon.
