Manchester Essex to be well represented at district music fest

MANCHESTER — Thirteen students from the Manchester Essex Regional School District were selected to participate in the Northeast Massachusetts District Junior Music Festival.

After auditions of students from more than 90 public and private schools held in January, approximately 450 sixth-through-ninth-graders were selected to participate in this Massachusetts Music Educators Association event. The program is offered by the association as an enrichment opportunity, providing a musical experience to talented young people. The students were selected to perform in the district girls chorus, boys chorus, concert band, and orchestra. They will rehearse with guest conductors and then perform in the Festival Concert to be held at Lowell High School in Lowell on Saturday, March 27.

Representing Manchester Essex in the festival will be:

Girls Chorus: Eleanor Mortillaro, Devin Kelley, and Elizabeth White, all of whom received perfect scores; and Alexandra Valenti, Vanessa Kelley, Courtney Kaner, and Lila Etter.

Boys Chorus: Neil Henry, Samuel Koufman, Ryan Grady, and Alexander Buck.

Concert Band: Noah Gilbert.

Orchestra: Loyd Waites.
