Maplewood Avenue fire 'contained'

Gloucester firefighters have "contained" a structure fire at 154 Maplewood Ave.

After getting a call around 11:25 a.m., the first responders found "light smoke" coming from the wood-frame house, and, moments later, reported a "working fire" at the scene.

Just before noon, firefighters reported they had the blaze "contained." Motorists, however, are advised to steer clear of the scene, which is on upper Maplewood, near the overpass for the Route 128 Extension.

There have been no reports of any injuries. We have a photographer at the scene, and will update this story here at gloucestertimes.com when more information becomes available.
