Shop, stroll and explore Essex on Saturday

ESSEX — No stranger to promoting the riverside town and the home of the fried clam, the Essex Merchants Group is at it again, inaugurating a new Essex event.

More than 60 local artisans and shop owners have signed up for the Essex Riverwalk Craft Festival, where the mantra is “shop, stroll and explore.”

Businesses will each host three to four artisans who do not have their own brick-and-mortar shop.

The event is organized by both the local merchants group and the Essex Cultural District.

“Its really been an all around nice effort from everyone,” said co-organizer Georgeanne Richards, who also operates the Sea Meadow Gift and Garden Shop on Main Street. The other main organizer is Donna Roy.

Richards said the organization process has taken about three months, and the event spread fast through word of mouth.

The riverwalk is set for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. down Main Street and along the Causeway. Rain date is Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m.
