Rockport Police/Fire

ROCKPORT — Authorities arrested a local man Saturday after a call to police about an alleged restraining order violation.

According to police, officers responded to a Granite Street residence at 5:15 a.m. and charged David Williams, 76, with violating a restraining order. Police said Williams was transported to Middleton jail pending arraignment.

Police were notified of an allegedly intoxicated resident on a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority train Sunday at 12:45 a.m. Police said the man was given a ride home by officers when the train arrived.

A Ridgewood Road man called police Saturday at 4:15 p.m. to report a number of items missing from his yard.

According to police, the man indicated that a ladder, gas can and other items had been taken sometime in the past month.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Saturday at 11:30 p.m., and found two brothers having a verbal argument on Kitefield Road. Police told one of the brothers to leave for the night, and he complied.

Firefighters responded to High Street for a reported strong smell of oil at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, but responders could not smell anything when they arrived and soon left.
