Gloucester High School students Cara O’Connell and Zachary Schultz, and Jacob Freed, a Manchester Essex Regional High School student, were awarded the 2013 St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience.

Jessica Olson graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in biochemsitry.

Maj. Gen. Patrick A. Murphy, the adjutant general for the State of New York, recently announced the completion of training for members of the New York Army National Guard. The military training was conducted at Camp Smith, N.Y., by the 106 Regional Training Institute. Spc. Ioannis Daras from Gloucester, serving with the Company C 143rd Infantry, graduated from the Basic Infantryman Course.

Ninth-graders Isabella Cruz-Nascimento and Peter Thibodeau have been named to the third trimester honor roll, with high honors, at Shore Country Day School in Beverly.

These students have been named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Lowell: Samuel Heaney-Balf, Jessica Kabulo, Nicholas Kearns, Shaquitta Leday, Paul Martyn, Jessica Nearis, Marc Sutera, Paul Sutherland, Meredith Swan, Ken Turmet, Michael Welin and Joshua Zubricki.
