BMX team delivers stunts, messages about bike safety, bullying

MANCHESTER — They pulled the type of stunts that carry the warning label, “Don’t try this at home.”

And that was the idea.

Eastern Action Sports Team of Massachusetts, known as “Team E.A.S.T.,” took over the gym at Memorial Elementary School for two performances on Monday. Using a large ramp, the team’s BMX riders performed tricks and jumps in show that kept the children and teachers on the edge of their seats.

Then the stunt riders had a discussion with the schoolchildren about bicycle safety and maintenance, as well as bullying, personal responsibility teamwork and character building.

The event was sponsored by the school’s PTO Enrichment Committee.
