Heading into Memorial Day Weekend, Gloucester's Department of Public Works contractors are now finishing up paving over the roads they've been working on for other reasons throughout the spring.
Thursday, crews finished paving much of the inside lane of Stacy Boulevard from the Centennial Avenue intersection to the Middle Street intersection.
Public Works Director Mike Hale said they'll finish paving the major roads before Memorial Day weekend.
This morning, crews were set to pave Main Street at the Chestnut Street intersection, then move onto Prospect Street. They'll finish Western Avenue to Tally's Corner before the end of the day. Elm and Chestnut streets will be paved next Tuesday and Wednesday.
"Relief will be had around town by Friday afternoon," Hale said.
All of the paving follows up earlier projects that have focused on replacing underground water, sewer and gas lines across the city.
