---- — ESSEX — A 48-year-old Gloucester woman faces a number of charges related to alleged drunken driving after the motor vehicle she was driving on Eastern Avenue in Essex twice struck another vehicle from behind, crashed into a pole and then struck a guard rail Thursday about 3:33 p.m., according to police.
April M. Carye of 11R Hovey St., was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital following the accident, while her car was towed from the scene, according to police.
The operator of the other vehicle did not require medical transport, and he was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene, police said.
Police charged Carye with drunken driving, driving with an open container of liquor, operating to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes, according to police.
MANCHESTER — The town’s animal control officer, another police officer and a dog sitter, wrangled a small dog that had escaped into the roadway on Old Essex Road Friday about 8:56 a.m., police said.
