---- — ESSEX — Power was knocked out all over Essex on Monday evening after a tree fell, keeping many residents in the dark about eight hours.
The tree pulled down electrical wires on Martin Street near Landing Road about 5:47 p.m., police said.
National Grid told police the downed tree was a major contributing factor in the power outages all over town.
Power was returned to many customers about 2 a.m., police said.
A tree fell onto a Western Avenue resident’s boat and landed leaning against the house Monday about 3:40 p.m. On its way down, the tree took down Comcast and Verizon cables, police said. The Fire Department responded and secured the wires with a makeshift device.
Firefighters removed a downed cable wire on a John Wise Avenue resident’s property Monday about 3:19 p.m. They advised the homeowner to contact the cable company, according to police.
A Patriot’s Landing woman was transported to Beverly Hospital on Monday about 11:06 p.m., police said.
A Story Street woman was transported to Beverly Hospital Tuesday about 7:27 a.m., according to police.
