Essex Police/Fire: Deer struck on Western Avenue

Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — A deer was hit by a car Monday just after 7 p.m. on Western Avenue and Pond Street.

Police said there was minor damage to the vehicle, but the deer was dead when police arrived.

A Choate Street man phoned police asking for a well-being check on another resident Monday around 6:15 p.m. Police said they were able to make contact with the resident.

Police said a fire alarm was activated on Main Street just before 7 p.m.; the Essex firefighters determined the alarm was caused by faulty batteries.
