---- — A 17-year-old accused of striking a woman on the head with a plaster casted arm while standing near a game booth at Fiesta Wednesday night was arrested and charged with assault and battery.
A witness reported seeing Joseph W. Petrilli of Magnolia Avenue smack the girl with the cast on his forearm, then run off after her when she fled the area about 10:20 p.m.
Officers tracked Petrilli down and caught him, according to the police report.
Officers noticed that Petrilli “appeared to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor” and charged him with disorderly conduct in addition to the assault charge, according to the police report.
Dennis P. Monagle, 38, of Beverly was criminally charged with driving during a license suspension, after an officer stopped him on Washington Street because the passenger side headlight of the vehicle he was driving was not illuminated at 12:46 a.m. Thursday.
The officer charged Monagle with driving a vehicle with defective equipment too. Tally’s towed the vehicle from the scene.
Anthony J. Dietzel, 18, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, after witnesses reported seeing him grab a woman’s arm and push her during an argument at a party in his Prospect Street home.
Police said they noticed a “strong odor of alcohol” on Dietzel’s breath when they arrested him about 1 a.m. Thursday. Police said Dietzel called police names and spewed insults like “fat slobs” at officers as they transported him to the station.
Police also arrested an 18-year-old Young Road man about 8 p.m. Wednesday, after a pat frisk on East Main Street led them to find eleven full cans of beer and a pint of Jack Daniels in the teen’s backpack.
Dylan Young initially refused to stop when police approached him and a group of friends. When he refused to remove his hands from his pockets, police decided to pat frisk Young because he presented a safety threat. Officers found the alcohol in Young’s backpack during a search that resulted after the pat frisk revealed cold, hard objects in the bag.
Police were initially in the area responding to a report of underage drinking.
Police arrested a 28-year-old Staten Street man on an outstanding warrant, after spotting the man wanted for a violation of immigration laws walking on Commercial Street Tuesday about 9 a.m. After arrested Nestor Matute, police turned the man over to immigration officials.
